Biomass exists in several of forms, like wood, crop (straws of rice, wheat, bean, cotton, husk etc), weeds, algae etc. in the plants. Others like, animal wastes, spoil and the organic exist in waste water and rubbish etc.

Now here are many three ways o generate power with biomass: gasify generating, burning generating, CHP technology. In China, we are rich in the resources of biomass, but lack in the power supply. So our country can supply a vast stage to show the advantage and economy to generate power with biomass.

Main composition of biomass gas

After being gasified, the basis of gas is CO(20%), H2(9%),CH4(12%), CO2(12%), O2(1%), N2(52%). The lower heating value is 5~6MJ/Nm3,

Efficiency of gasification: 1kg dried material can generate 2 Nm3 gas, conversation rate is more than 85%. 1kg dry material can generate 1kw•h power.

Requirement for Biomass Gas(Within 1m to the intake valve of gas generator set)

Gas Temperature ≤40℃

Pressure 3 ~ 10kpa, Pressure changing rates ≤1 kpa/min

H2S≤200mg/Nm3;

NH3≤20mg/Nm3;

Tar Contents≤20mg/Nm3

Impurity Particle size≤5μm, impurity content ≤30mg/Nm3

Moisture content≤40g/Nm3

Heat value≥4.2MJ//Nm3

REMARKS:

If there are too much sulfur and ammonia in the gas, it will not only corrode the electrode of sparking plug heavily but also increase the acid value of engine oil which corrodes the parts inside oft, easy to generate precipitate and increase the attrition corrosion to the engine.

The key and premise of generating gas is that biomass is gasified and generated gas. According to different crafts, there are many kinds of equipment to generate biomass gas. The higher the heat value of biomass gas is the impurity the less is. It will be better for generating gas. It will not only increase the efficiency of generating gas, but also reduces the damage that is done to generator equipment by impurity.
